If you're planning on escaping the last of the cold weather, we're here to help you prepare with a checklist to ensure your home is well cared for during your absence ๐
1. Set Timers for your lighting
Setting these timers for a few choice lights will give the appearance that you're still there even while you're away!
2. Turn off the Water to Dishwashers/Clothes Washer
Since it's still cold out and New England is unpredictable, it's better to err on the side of caution!
3. Unplug Appliances
Unplug your washer and dryer, coffee maker, TV, and other appliances. This will save electricity and reduce damage should their be a power surge.
4. Stage your Blinds & Window Shades
Adjust window shades and blinds to a semi-open position and park a car in your driveway, again trying to maintain the feel that someone is at home.
5. Clean Out Your Refrigerator
Make life a bit easier upon your return home and discard of all perishable items!
6. Enlist the Help of Your Neighbors
Leave a copy of your itinerary, cellphone numbers and a house key with a trust worthy relative or neighbor. Arrange for your trash or recycle cans to be set out for collection and then returned to your garage.
