You need to choose what you are looking for this Halloween season.  Decide what kind of theme you want and stick with it. Do you want to make it kid friendly? (In that case you can bypass dangly any severed limbs or propping up any skeletons.)  If so, decorations that are more towards "cute" or playful are where you want to go. Do you want creepy? Really creepy?  This is your free pass to do just that! Into decorating your home each season but don't like Halloween? We have some options for you too.

In this blog, we are going to look at 3 key areas to jump start your home staging for the season; Front Door, Lights, Walls.

    FRONT DOOR

    Kid Friendly

You can't go wrong the good-ole reliable Jack-o-lantern. There are endless ideas for carving a pumpkin that go way behind two eyes, a nose and a crooked smile. Carving a pumpkin does require some basic tips from the get go that you want to pay attention to. Check out this video before you start hacking away at that giant pumpkin you just bought!

    Autumn Themed

Some people pass on the idea of limiting themselves to Halloween instead choosing to have an Autumn theme. The upside here is not having to swap out decorations until the holidays! Check out this great and simple DIY video where you can see how to make a Fall wreath on the cheap.

    Creep Factor

Returning to the Jack-o-Lantern here, we see how the pro's do-it. Watch Ray Villafane show you the basics on how to make your Pumpkin as scary as you want it to be with one simple approach.

    LIGHTS

    Kid Friendly

One of the major reasons Halloween is such a fun time of year is crafts! Jack-o-Lanterns are great but if you have actually sat down and carve one up, you will  understand that isn't the most kid friendly of activities. Looking for something that is, check out this great How-To video, where you can learn how to make a ghost with a recycle plastic jug.

If longevity is the aim here, then these night lights are a good option for your home. Another plus about this particular craft is the simpleness factor. You will only need a glass jar, PVA glue, a paint brush, and some leaves. From there, you will won't need a ton of time to put it all together. For lighting, consider using a candle or a cheap LCD light.

    Creep Factor

This lantern has some great potential to run chills down the spines of any houseguest or candy seeker. This lantern consists of products can be purchased easily online or local craft stores and doesn't take all day to put together. Consider killing the houselights and adding some ambient music to increase the spook factor!

    FOR THE WALLS

    Kid Friendly

This is something that could result in some patience for your kids. Step by step, one at a time is important otherwise you may find you spider web trapping "you" instead of being proudly displayed on the wall. This one may take more time but it is worth it! Pro tip, feel free to have your little ones add different bugs, faces, characters, or whatever to the theme. It is should

    Autumn Themed

There is a TON of DIY videos related to decorating to walls! Mirrors are a good spot to decorate because your eyes naturally focus on something that is different from the wall itself. Another great part of using a mirror, is that you can zone in on only decorating one thing in every room.

    Creep Factor

Saving the easiest for last! This one consists of just buying the "web", cutting it up and setting it up on the walls that you feel would be best. (These "webs" have tons of versatility so feel free to put them outside as well!) If you want to take it to the next level, make sure to add some realistic looking spiders. Combining these with the lanterns shown above will definitely give your spider webs that uneasy feeling that you are looking for!
