Sandwich



Sandwich is located in Barnstable County, on the South Shore of Massachusetts. The county, named after an England city, has a rich history dating back to the Pilgrims and the founding of Plymouth Colony in 1620.



The town was incorporated in 1639. It's one of the oldest towns on Cape Cod and in the country. It’s located in the area where the Mayflower first landed, at what is now Provincetown.



In addition to Sandwich, Barnstable County includes notable towns like Bourne, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, Provincetown, and Yarmouth. The county is known for its gorgeous and historical lighthouses, windmills, and early American architecture.



With a quaint and quiet New England style, the town’s historic charm and uniqueness make it an attractive place to live in Cape Cod.



The picturesque town has some incredible and unique neighborhoods, and to understand those better, we divided it into four main areas:

• East Sandwich—Known for its coastal location and scenic beauty, it is the most desirable neighborhood in town. Enjoy easy access to Scorton Neck Beach and East Sandwich Beach.



• Forestdale – Located in northern Sandwich, this neighborhood is a popular spot to enjoy wooded areas and the Cape Cod Canal. It is where Snake Pond, Peter’s Pond, and Wakeby Pond are located.

Served by the Sandwich Public Schools district, the town has one school dedicated to preschool, kindergarten, and elementary students, four middle schools, and two high schools, including the well-known Sandwich Middle-High, Oak Ridge School, and Forestdale School.



For those seeking private education, the area offers several options, including Montessori and parochial schools. The South Shore is also home to excellent vocational schools, such as South Shore Regional Vocational Technical School near Hanover, and several renowned colleges and universities.

As a coastal New England town, Sandwich experiences four distinct seasons:

• Spring – Temperatures warm up to the 50s and 60s (10-15°C), with occasional showers. The town comes alive with blooming flowers and outdoor activities.
